Omaha new construction
Sherwood Homes in Omaha
Sherwood Homes and Lane Building Corp. are long-established Omaha builders with roots going back to the 1960s. Their current offerings include a broad floor-plan lineup and communities in Elkhorn, Bennington, Gretna, Bellevue, Papillion and Omaha, giving buyers more plan and neighborhood choice than a single-subdivision builder. For buyers, that combination of long local history and current inventory makes Sherwood worth comparing alongside the larger production and semi-custom builders.
Long Omaha history
Sherwood is not a new name in the local market.
Sherwood traces its roots to the 1960s and says it has been building in the Omaha area for more than 50 years. Lane Building Corp. was formed in 1989 through a partnership involving Sherwood founder Glen Palmer and Jerry Standerford. That history matters because many Omaha buyers will also encounter older Sherwood homes in resale neighborhoods, not just brand-new construction.
Current new construction
Sherwood still markets completed, pending and for-sale homes around the metro.
Established subdivisions
The builder’s site references neighborhoods across Elkhorn, Bennington, Gretna, Papillion, Bellevue and Omaha.
Resale relevance
Because Sherwood has built locally for decades, the name also appears throughout Omaha’s existing-home inventory.
Current subdivisions
Sherwood builds across several familiar Omaha-area communities.
Daybreak Springs
Elkhorn-area new construction near 192nd and Fort.
Kempten Creek
Bennington-area development along the Bennington Road corridor.
Aspen Creek North
Gretna-area community near 192nd Street and the Q/Harrison corridor.
Granite Creek
Papillion-area new construction near Highway 370.
Founders Ridge
Papillion-area development south of Highway 370.
Liberty
Bellevue-area community near 45th and Capehart Road.
Lions Gate
Bellevue new-construction opportunity near 48th Street and Capehart Road with limited remaining lots.
Clearwater Falls
Established Bellevue subdivision where Sherwood-built homes remain relevant to resale comparisons.
Floor plans
There are a lot of Sherwood plans in the local market.
Sherwood’s current floor-plan library includes ranch and two-story plans such as Allen Park, Hanover, Burberry, Crossville, Bradbury, Halstead and others. Some names also show up repeatedly in current and past Omaha listings, which can make plan-level comparisons useful when you are deciding between new construction and a newer resale home.
I compare the actual finished home rather than assuming every version of a named plan is the same. Lot, elevation, basement finish, garage configuration and selections can change both value and daily usability.
Representation and inspections
Long builder history does not replace due diligence.
If you want your own agent representing you, establish that relationship before you register, negotiate or select a lot. I also recommend independent inspections and a careful walkthrough on new construction regardless of the builder’s age or reputation.
If you already own a home, the sale timeline, financing and new-home completion date should all be planned together.
